Rachel C. Gladstone, M. Ed., M.S. Counseling

Practice

Rachel C. Gladstone is a licensed school counselor and an educator. Rachel provides educational consultation services to families navigating school placement options, school transitions, and specialized resources. She works with families to clarify their educational goals for their child and to navigate the pros and cons of school options as they relate to the specific student. Her extensive knowledge of the Greater Richmond area public school system, as well as local and national private schools enables her to help families make informed and confident decisions about their child’s placement and educational journey from preschool through high school.

Rachel helps families identify school and community resources to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of their child. She enjoys supporting families navigating school-related questions or concerns, regardless of how big or small.  She works with parents to cultivate positive home to school relationships built on a foundation of assuming positive intent, working to facilitate clear communication, developing trust, and striving to keep focus on the shared goal of always doing what is in the best interest of the child. Rachel is available to help parents navigate the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and 504 process and to attend IEP and 504 meetings.

Rachel works with students and families as they navigate the high school planning and application process. She helps students to identify schools and programs that align best with their interests, talents, and potential college and career goals. Rachel coaches students on developing interview skills, writing effective entrance essays, school planning, goal setting, and navigating the decision making process.

Additionally, Rachel works with parents who are seeking residential placement for their child, striving to bring a sense of calm and organization to the process. She is familiar with the admissions process and requirements for many therapeutic boarding schools, therapeutic wilderness programs, boarding schools, and other specialty programs. Rachel works closely with parents, schools, and therapeutic teams to understand the unique needs of the individual student and helps families identify well suited programs for their child. She is available to help coordinate crisis intervention and transport services when needed.
