Jennifer Nodar

practice

Ms. Nodar provides executive functioning coaching and academic support with young children, adolescents, and adults to age 21. The goal of her practice is to enable students of all ages to reach their full potential by developing their executive functioning skills. These “brain processes” will serve them well in their current needs and with their future endeavors.

Jennifer has worked extensively with students with executive functioning deficits, ADHD and other learning differences to integrate academic support with the EF skills: organization, memory, self‐ control, motivation, and planning ahead. Ms. Nodar creates an individualized plan for each of her students to “teach them how to fish”, so they can be successful on their own.

education & experience

Ms. Nodar received her Master of Science in Exceptional Education from Long Island University, C. W. Post in 1999. She studied education at the State University of New York at Cortland and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1994. She began her teaching career in Long Island, New York as an elementary enrichment teacher with students in small groups and as teacher support in the whole classroom.

After moving from New York to Virginia in 2004, Ms. Nodar worked for the Henrico County Public Schools as a teacher with the general and special education population. As an intervention specialist, Jennifer worked with groups of students needing a high level of support in both language arts and mathematics. She was a member of the Child Study Team and served as an advocate for her students. Ms. Nodar has also worked as an independent child advocate, assisting families with the Special Education Child Study Process in local school districts and private schools.

She became very interested in the area of EF (Executive Functioning) during her years in and out of the classroom. Through her 20 years of teaching and private tutoring, Ms. Nodar has designed and applied effective techniques to enable each individual to take the crucial steps for learning and development. These steps allow each student to handle the challenges of life on their own. These EF skills can be developed and applied in and out of the classroom to make healthy choices in their academic, social and emotional life.

Ms. Nodar joined Westhampton Family Psychologists in 2021. Ms. Nodar enjoys reading, practicing yoga and finding great new restaurants in town. She lives in Glen Allen, Virginia with her two teenage sons.
