practice
Katie Dix provides executive function coaching and academic support for young children, adolescents, and young adults. The focus of her practice is to empower students to reach their full potential by building strong, sustainable executive functioning habits. By focusing on core processes—such as organization, time management, planning, prioritization, working memory, and self-monitoring—Mrs. Dix helps students navigate both their current academic demands and long-term personal goals.
Mrs. Dix works extensively with students navigating executive functioning challenges, ADHD, and diverse learning profiles. With deep expertise in supporting students with IEPs and 504 plans, she creates individualized frameworks that seamlessly integrate subject-area support with practical EF strategies. Mrs. Dix’s approach centers on fostering self-advocacy and independence, equipping students with the tools and confidence they need to thrive on their own.
education & experience
Mrs. Dix earned her Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Special Education from Radford University in 1995. Raised in Northern Virginia, she has dedicated more than 25 years to public education across the Commonwealth, teaching in Manassas Park City Schools, Roanoke City Public Schools, Richmond City Public Schools, and serving the past 20 years with Henrico County Public Schools.
Throughout her extensive classroom career, Mrs. Dix has not only provided daily accommodations for students with varied learning needs, but has also served as an integral contributor to the development and implementation of IEPs and 504 plans. Through decades of classroom teaching and private one-on-one tutoring, she has designed and refined practical, real-world strategies that help students manage workload demands, reduce academic stress, and build lifelong executive functioning routines.
Mrs. Dix joined the practice in 2026. Outside of coaching and teaching, Mrs. Dix enjoys spending time at the beach, going to the movies, and practicing photography. You can often find her on the sidelines taking photos for the Deep Run High School football and lacrosse teams, where her son plays and her husband coaches. Go Wildcats!
